This introductory course teaches a facilitative approach to mediation with a focus on interest-based negotiations. Participants will learn how to navigate the mediation process and necessary skills for facilitation. This is a highly interactive training that includes lecture, group activity and role play for participants to practice and receive hands-on coaching. This training is highly beneficial to attorneys, HR professionals, managers, supervisors, social workers, teachers, and anyone that may oversee conflict. This is a 3-day course offering SHRM, PA-CLE, and PA-CEU credits.
The Basic Mediation Training workshop builds skills in some of the following areas:
- Understanding the dynamic of conflict
- Styles of conflict management
- Active listening
- Asking effective questions
- Interest-based negotiation
- Mediator neutrality
- Rewording techniques
- Facilitating the process
- Framing negotiable issues that lead to joint problem solving
- Building agreements
