The Center for Resolutions has over 25 years of experience providing dispute resolution services to communities, school districts, and other non-profit and for profit organizations. . Our School Programs provide school administrators, teachers, students and parents with active, experiential, conflict-resolution training, tailored to the needs of the particular group of participants. Some of the most commonly offered are described below:
TEACHER/STAFF TRAINING
- Basic Mediation: Training the Trainer: This course is recommended for school systems and youth serving organizations, which are considering establishing peer mediation programs. This interactive training introduces participants to the process of mediation and utilizes a variety of instructional techniques including supervised role-plays, demonstrations, and small group exercises. The course develops skills and introduces a specific, practical process that they can utilize on a daily basis to assist them in conflict situations with colleagues, parents and students. In addition, it gives a comprehensive overview of common strategies to implement peer mediation programs
- Circle Dialogue Process / Problem Solving Circles: This training introduces the circle problem solving process to teachers, staff and counselors. The circle process is being used for decision-making, problem solving and conflict resolution in the classroom, and within families, schools and communities.
- How to Get Along – Other ways to work it out!!: This workshop is designed to lead school administrators, community members, parents and others, through a variety of experiences to explore their most effective responses to conflict with children and youth. It is an introduction to the concepts of conflict resolution and alternatives to traditional methods of discipline. Focusing on resolutions, youth are held accountable for their actions, take responsibility and then learn from the conflict.
- Diversity and Multiculturalism: This workshop is designed not only to foster greater understanding of diversity and multiculturalism, but to also uncover the personal side of these issues. This training can be modified for any age group – adults and youth.
